Wombat Character Designs (mixed media on paper)

The 'Wil' is not final, not wombat enough, too koala also nose is too pink and he aint furry/hairy enough.

Having fun working out what paper to use. For the finished story pages I've decided on Arches Aquarelle Cold Pressed 300 g/m2. Similar to what 'Ma' is painted on. More soon.

Finished. Although in this photo the lady is lacking her red glaze which knocks all that pinky white back.

Should have followed Frazetta's composition more closely...the way that her legs just go off the edge like that really bothers me.

Working on a children's book for the Australian National Library right now so I'll post stuff from that soon.

Getting there.....laying on the paint pretty thick...using quick dry oils which I'm really enjoying....still don't really know what I'm doing with the background...

In Frazetta's Conan painting there's all kinds of stuff floating around in the background...but seeing as how I've made the figure so much bigger I dont think I can do that for risk of clutteration and business.....

So after laying in a whole bunch of sepia shapes; I tried to get more definition with indigo/ultramarine....too much drawing and not enough painting though...getting pretty frustrated....thinking I should have stuck closer to Frazetta's painting and put less emphasis on the figure....also, the naked lady at his feet may get painted out....
